They're one of our most beloved - and unusual - animals. With a long bill, webbed, duck-like feet, flat tail and furry body, the platypus is an Australian icon.
But sadly, land clearing, dams and drought are destroying their habitat and placing them under threat. To mark Threatened Species Day, the Australian Geographic Society has teamed up with the Australian Conservation Foundation to help platpuses through the "Platy-project", which aims to protect them by recording sightings of where they live.
You can do your bit by colouring-in the platypus picture to raise awareness about this important species and also go into the running to win one of 10 book prize packs.
