International contemporary music ensemble ELISION will perform at the Redland Performing Arts Centre at 7.30pm on Friday, May 11.
Dedicated to fine performances of cutting-edge music, this Australian ensemble has played from the Berlin Philharmonie, to Saitama Arts Theatre Tokyo and the Pompidou Centre, through to the Sydney Opera House. After the RPAC performance, the group heads to Germany.
Their concert will feature a selection of visceral pieces including: Aaron Cassidy’s The Wreck of Former Boundaries, a blistering meld of live electronics and electric lap-steel guitar and Richard Barrett’s impressive world-line, an interlocking cycle of compositions featuring the electric lap-steel guitar. Completing this program will be Richard Barrett’s codex III and James Gardner’s Torc.
ELISION ensemble is Daryl Buckley (electric lap-steel guitar), Graeme Jennings (violin), Peter Neville (percussion), Tristram Williams (trumpet) and Benjamin Anderson (trombone). They have been pushing physical boundaries with their unique musical compositions for more than 20 years. This concert promises an amazing sound world that erupts and explodes.
